Following successful showcases at major industry trade shows, GLP announces the official sales launch of the new E-Frost filter for the GLP Creos at LDI in Las Vegas. This innovative filter is now available through GLP’s global distribution network — with AV LIGHT serving as the official GLP distributor in Poland.
Based on modern Smart Glass technology and engineered specifically for Creos, the E-Frost allows designers to manipulate the beam angle and the appearance of the front lens in backlight applications thanks to independently controlled frost segments. It unlocks creative options that traditional frost filters cannot achieve.
Hybrid performance: beam, wash and backlight in one fixture
The GLP Creos has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most versatile and powerful LED hybrid fixtures in its category. It delivers a precise 4° beam of up to 1.2 megacandelas and an even 50° wash via a motorized zoom. It performs exceptionally well both as a standard wash light and as a striking backlight—whether used as a beam, floodlight or effect fixture.
When multiple units are arranged in clusters, Creos visually merges into a seamless, wide LED bar thanks to its identical pixel pitch and perfectly aligned LED rows. Its compact form, integrated transport handles and robust IP65 housing emphasize its touring-ready build.
X5-grade color quality
Creos’ color performance is powered by GLP’s advanced iQ.Gamut algorithm and the RGB+Lime color mixing system—an industry benchmark. It provides the same top-tier color quality found in the flagship X5 series. The RGB + Lime engine produces vivid primaries, subtle shades and excellent color rendering, especially at lower color temperatures.
Users can select from multiple white points and an extended CTC range of 2,500 to 10,000 K that follows the black body curve precisely. Various tungsten emulation curves are also available, accurately simulating the dimming behavior and redshift of classic halogen fixtures. The additional Lime channel increases efficiency and improves skin-tone reproduction — ideal for theatre and broadcast applications, yet equally valuable for touring and corporate events.
Segmented E-Frost — a creative extension
The new segmented E-Frost filter significantly expands the creative scope of Creos. It consists of three independently controllable Smart Glass segments placed along the fixture’s horizontal LED arrays. Each segment can change within milliseconds from transparent—producing a sharp beam—to fully frosted, delivering a smooth wash.
Transitions are not limited to fixed states; within the adaptive range they can be smoothly blended to create dynamic effects such as sine-wave patterns or pulsating transitions. Combined with pixel-level LED control, designers can craft graphic effects or subtle animated textures across the entire width of the fixture.
This segmented approach produces looks that were previously unattainable and enables seamless transitions between beam, wash and atmospheric multi-layered effects—without changing accessories or modifying hardware.
Two versions: White Frost and Black Frost
The E-Frost is available in two versions:
- White Frost — a bright, uniform diffusion ideal for large stages and high-output wash applications.
- Black Frost — minimizes visible reflections and housing contours, which is especially beneficial in TV studios, theatres, art installations and premium event environments.
Installation is quick and tool-free using four knurled screws. Power and data are supplied directly via GLP FX.Port, and all frost-control channels are already integrated into the Creos DMX profile.
Engineered for real-world production environments
Like the Creos itself, the E-Frost is fully IP65-rated, built from durable aluminum and designed to operate from –10°C to +45°C. It withstands rain, dust, wind, confetti, pyro effects and the demanding conditions of touring.
Together, Creos + E-Frost offer an exceptionally wide creative spectrum and a strong price-performance ratio—making them ideal for rental companies, theatres, houses of worship, broadcast studios, touring productions and large outdoor events.
